Hirelings

Hirelings are a class of NPC that players can directly hire to staff their residential or organizational properties. Hirelings will not follow the player or move at all, and are hired directly into place. They serve specific, specialized purposes.

Vendor        Sells your shop's stock from its shelves; buys goods of your shop's categories when instructed, paid from the till
Clerk         Answers questions about chosen topics; recruiting clerks ping your organization's recruiters, passes along messages
Doorman       Opens doors for those permitted to enter (organization members of the right rank, or guests)
Castellan     Keeps your building's records: its rooms, their condition, taxes due, and who has access
Guard         Protects your property in real, lootable gear; trained and equipped by tier

All NPCs have their own skills and obey skill conventions, so can be stealthed past and killed. Hirelings all cost some weekly real world wages depending on their role, and in the case of guards, their skill levels.

Hiring a hireling is done by typing HIRE in a room you own as a residential property, or an organization room you have sufficient privileges to hire in. You will be permitted to write a short and long description for the hireling, so feel free to customize your employees within reason.
