Swim
Also known as: dive, diving, drown, drowning, swimming, underwater, wade, wading
Swim is a traversal skill that determines how well your character moves around in water too deep to wade in. You swim automatically when you enter such terrain. Swimming on the surface of water requires you to occasionally tread water, spending stamina to stay afloat. You may also dive in rooms deep enough to swim down below the surface of the water. While underneath the surface, you do not tread, but instead expend stamina at a steady, faster tick-rate to represent holding your breath. There is special equipment that can extend your time under the waves.
If you run out of stamina while swimming, you will begin to drown. If you are on the surface, you will slip below. Once below the surface, the steady tick rate will subtract from your health until you are dead or rescued by someone.
In addition to players, items can have buoyancy, and either float or sink. Releasing an item that sinks at the surface will send it below; releasing an item that floats below the surface causes it to shoot upwards.
Swim trains by swimming in deep water, and at high levels requires you to swim below the surface as well in order to train.
Swim is governed by endurance (primary) and strength (secondary).
