Track

Also known as: tracking, tracks, trail, trails, untrack

Track is a perception skill that governs your ability to detect the passing of wildlife, NPCs and other characters.

Typing TRACK in a room will list recent tracks and potentially provide additional information if your tracking skill is sufficiently high:

If they are injured (blood).
If they are dragging something.
How heavy they are.
The type of print (humanoid, cloven, paw, belly-track, etc).

You cannot track in water rooms, and weather and light play a strong role in how likely you are to detect tracks. Like search, there is a thirty second cooldown per room on track, meaning you cannot assure you see every track by spamming the skill. Anything with half or less health points remaining will leave bloody tracks, which are much easier to find. Lighter and sneaking quarry leave harder to detect tracks. The duration of a track depends on precipitation and how many other tracks pass through the room in the interim.

Once you have tracked in a room, you may type TRACK <keyword> to track a specific track. As you move, you will automatically attempt to track and display that track so long as you are following it. This way, you may move at speed while tracking, and the track will be displayed to you a half second after entering a new room with it, assuming your skill is sufficient to see it. Type UNTRACK to stop following a trail.

Track is governed by wisdom (primary) and endurance (secondary).
