Time

Also known as: calendar, date, seasons

Time passes linearly in Rhizome. Typing TIME by itself will output the current time, for example, typing time at the very moment Rhizome opened for play would show:

It is the 42nd day in the Month of Golas, year 470. It is early morning.

There are 12 months of the year in Rhizome, but each month has 60 days, with each day being 24 hours long.

The months:

Month Season
Irridum Late Winter
Golas Early Spring
Ancel Mid Spring
Ort Late Spring
Telum Early Summer
Orcel Mid Summer
Juxium Late Summer
Fellum Early Fall
Pociam Mid Fall
Deldartus Late Fall
Aqium Early Winter
Dirigum Mid Winter

Conversion to real time:

Game time Real time
1 hour 5 minutes
1 day 2 hours
1 month 5 days
1 year 60 days

Each in-game day is split into eight periods, which each take three in-game hours to pass:
After Midnight
Pre-dawn
Early Morning
Late Morning
Early Afternoon
Late Afternoon
Early Evening
Late Evening

The time of day can affect many things in Rhizome, including the amount of visible light, the ability of stealthy creatures, NPCs and players to avoid detection, what scenery ambiance messages a character sees during play, and the behavior of wildlife and NPCs.

The time of the year can affect the weather as seasons change, and wildlife behavior as different animals may migrate to different zones depending on the season, or display different behavior during different seasons (eg, rut).
